Finalists for Dav. Parks & Recreation

Three finalists have been been chosen for Director of Parks and Recreation in Davenport. The city will hold an open house Thursday night for residents to meet and talk with them.

- A native of the Quad Cities, Chad Dyson is currently Recreation Superintendent for Iowa City.

- Melanie McElroy is Development and Outreach Coordinator for the Leisure Services Department in Athens, and Clarke County, Georgia.

- And also from Georgia, Jim O'Connell works for the Peachtree City Department of Recreation as Athletics and Tournaments Coordinator.

One of them will replace Scott Hock who left this month, after four years, to direct parks and recreation in Cedar Rapids.

The open house will be held at the Figge Art Museum from 5:30 to 7 pm.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
