New Leader for Churches United

Churches United

A new leader has been chosen for Churches United, at least on an interim basis. Friday the organization announced Reverend Doctor Melvin Grimes will serve as interim executive director.

Grimes is a past president of the Churches United board of directors, and now serves as finance director.
Since 1989, he has been the pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Moline.

He replaces Anne Wachal who retired in December.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
