Old Denim, New Purpose

Blue Jeans Go Green

Some of your old clothing could soon help insulate homes.  Theisen's Home, Farm, and Auto has partnered with the Blue Jeans Go Green initiative to collect denim and turn it into insulation.

Peter Theisen hopes to make this denim recycling program an annual event.

"We thought it would be a great opportunity to go green, just like the names says, and offer an incentive to uor customers to grab a new pair of jeans while throwing out an old pair of jeans.  It is usually a norm to bring them in and have it turn into a positive."

An added benefit is this program keeps tons of denim from being dumped in landfills.

Their goal is to collect at least 3,500 items made of denim by the end of this month.

Once the denim is turned into insulation, he says most will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
