Thanks to one of the Quad Cities's casinos, there'll be more money to spend on schools, parks, and affordable housing. Tuesday the Scott County Regional Authority awarded its spring grants, totaling 1.5 million dollars.
The authority owns the license for the Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf and receives a share of its revenue.
Along with the River Bend Foodbank, Child Abuse Council, and the Family Museum, one of the recipients is WVIK Quad Cities NPR. It will receive 20,000 dollars for disaster preparedness projects, including a new backup transmitter.
