Over 400 historians and preservationists from across Iowa are in Davenport this week. Starting today, they'll tour the city and learn how Davenport maintains its historic buildings, during the Preserve Iowa Summit.
Davenport was chosen to host the conference for the first time this year. It has more listings on the National Register of Historic Places than any other city in Iowa.
The three-day summit includes stops at the Hamburg Historic District, the German-American Heritage Center, the Figge Art Museum, and the Rock Island Arsenal.
And, this year's summit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act.
The fourth annual Preserve Iowa Summit in Davenport will be held Thursday through Saturday.
