Middle Park in Bettendorf is celebrating its 50th anniversary today. Parks and Recreation Director Steve Grimes says the city has planned a sixties-themed celebration with games, music, tie-dying, a hula-hoop contest, and more.
He says today, the 70 acres are divided into two parks: The northern half is Middle Park, while the southern half is called Veteran's Memorial Park.
There have been many improvements through the years, including the Middle Park Bandshell, new playgrounds and ball-fields, and Splash Landing.

Grimes says the celebration will end tonight with a showing of the movie "The Love Bug" at 9 pm at the Bandshell.
