Scott County Bible Reading Marathon

The State of Iowa's 99-county Bible-reading marathon kicked off this morning and Scott County residents joined in, taking turns outside the county courthouse in Davenport.
Connie Johnson from the Bettendorf Baptist Church is the Scott County Captain for the Bible Reading Marathon. She says about 110 people have signed up to read the Bible out loud.
The marathon continued in spite of rain this morning. The first reader was Jane Wittmeyer. She stood next to the flag pole with an umbrella and read passages from the Book of Genesis for about 45 minutes until a new reader took over.

Brenda Schaefer from the Quad City Prayer Center was next, and continued reading from Genesis.

Each day at 1 o'clock, one of the Bible-readers will give a dramatic interpretation of popular Bible Stories, and it will be repeated at 5 pm. The marathon runs through Sunday.
