Eagle Point Lodge Renovated

Thanks to a local service club, a landmark in Clinton has been totally renovated. Tuesday afternoon a ribbon cutting and open house were held at Eagle Point Lodge.

Greg Obren, director of parks and recreation for the city, says last year the Clinton Rotary Club asked him for possible projects it could do to celebrate its 100th anniversary. He suggested fixing the patio at the lodge, but the club decided to fund a total renovation.
Outside, the lodge now has a new canopy at the main entrance, and new log walls, while inside some of it was gutted, and there's new insulation, walls, lights, and floors.

The biggest "wow" is the patio overlooking the Mississippi River.

Obren says every weekend through the end of the year is already booked at Eagle Point Lodge, and many weekends next year have already been reserved. Even weekdays are filling up to be used for group meetings.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
