CASI Receives National Accreditation

The Center for Active Seniors in Davenport has joined a select group of senior centers across the US. It's received national accreditation from the National Council on Aging - only the second in Iowa, and one of just 200 nationwide.

CASI spokeswoman, Jamie Lange, says the council gave it high marks for its many programs, community partnerships, and volunteer support.
CASI opened 43 years ago, and now has 35 full and part-time employees.

And it joins some other nationally accredited services in Davenport - the police, fire, and public works departments.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
