Thanks to gamblers at a local casino, non-profit groups, schools, and other agencies will have more than $1.5 million to spend. On Wednesday, the license owner for the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf handed out its latest round of grants.
The Scott County Regional Authority awarded 59 grants which will support cultural programs, educational initiatives, and help the hungry, homeless and disabled. For example, the Bettendorf School District will spend $220,000 to begin fixing up tennis and pickle ball courts. It will receive a total of $600,000 over three years to complete the project.
