The East Moline Library will celebrate its centennial this weekend. It'll hold a party Saturday to mark its 100th anniversary.
Director Laura Long says it was founded by members of the East Moline Civic League in 1915, and after several moves, arrived at its current downtown location on 16th Avenue in 1921. Its core mission has not changed in all that time, but she says how it's delivered has changed a lot.

New services also include job help and computer classes.
Last year the East Moline library hosted more than 115,000 visitors, and they checked out more than 135,000 print and electronic materials.
The current building is very busy and over-crowded, and Long says the library board continues to investigate the possibility of adding on, or building a new library.
The anniversary party begins Saturday at 2 pm (740 16th Avenue).
