A replica of a World War II Memorial is making a stop in the Quad Cities. This weekend, Veterans Funeral Care will host an educational program featuring the model of the fountain and pillars that encircle it.
The original memorial was built in 2004 in Washington, D.C. Veterans Funeral Care Spokeswoman, Linda Meadors, says a non-profit in Des Plaines called Pillars of Honor has been displaying the 8 foot replica around Iowa and Illinois.
At the program, Pillars of Honor will share the history of the World War II memorial. Once the replica leaves the Quad Cities, it will be retired at a museum in Washington, D.C.
This will be Veteran Funeral Care's third luncheon, and Meadors says several hundred veterans and guests have come in the past. It'll be held this Sunday at Milan's Camden Centre, and the memorial model will be on display after 2:30 pm.
