Local Legislators to Honor Emergency Responders

State Senator Neil Anderson's office

Local legislators are taking a moment to thank emergency responders for risking their lives to keep residents safe. Tomorrow, is the first "Blue Balloon Day" event, recognizing police officers, firefighters, and first responders in the Illinois Quad Cities.

Neil Anderson is the State Senator for Illinois' 36th District and joined the Moline Fire Department in 2006. He says many people don't think about the risk emergency responders face every day.

He says the "Blue Balloon" event is a bi-partisan effort, that's "not about politics, but honoring" police officers, firefighters, and first responders.

State Representatives Mike Smiddy and Pat Verschoore, and local officials, will speak tomorrow, and then join in a prayer. The "Blue Balloon Day" event is from noon to 1 pm, at Anderson's Moline office, on the Avenue of the Cities.
