First Ever Clinton Fashion Week

While the world's most famous fashion designers gather in New York City this week, local designers and retailers are doing the same in eastern Iowa. The first ever Clinton Fashion Week begins tomorrow and ends Saturday.

Co-founder and designer Leslie Friedman, says the idea for Fashion Week started last year, when she held a fashion show to help raise money for the historic George Curtis Mansion.

After nearly selling out the show, Friedman realized this could be a way for local retailers to promote their products.
Retailers will hold events throughout the week, including an adult and children's fashion show at the Painted Rooster, and a Girls' Night Out at Renaissance Resale Boutique.

All of the events are free, except for the Main Event Fashion Show on Saturday, which will help support The Curtis Mansion.

Friedman says three students helped design the outfits for the show.

After last year's show, she says students approached her wanting to learn fashion design.

Clinton Fashion Week begins tomorrow at 5 pm, with a kick-off party at Vinnie's Lounge and Martini Bar.
