Expecting thousands of bicycle riders to arrive on Saturday, Davenport has turned to local residents for help. Today the Davenport Volunteer Connection held training sessions for the people who will help greet RAGBRAI.
The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa will end on Credit Island.
Alisha Espey, from the Volunteer Connection, says about 200 people have signed up to work shifts lasting two to three hours.
And she has a list of frequently asked questions that the volunteers should be ready to answer.
Espey says the RAGBRAI volunteers will be stationed at several sites, including Credit Island where the riders will dip their wheels in the Mississippi River, parking lots, shuttle bus stops, and the visitors center.
Some slots for volunteers still need to be filled. The Davenport Volunteeer Connection website is at www.volunteerdavenport.com.
