Local Museums Partner for Week-Long Events

Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau

For the first time, museums throughout the Quad Cities are working together to offer activities. "Museum Week" kicked off on Saturday, and 20 museums are featuring unique exhibits and events, through the weekend.
David Breisch, from the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, says "Museum Week" is a way to cross-promote all of the different museums in the area.

He says one of the most exciting events is a tour of the underground tunnel connecting the Deere-Wiman House with the Butterworth Center in Moline. The tunnel was built in 1916, and used by employees and descendants of John Deere. This week is the first time the tunnel is open to the general public.
Events are also taking place throughout the week at the Davenport Library, the Augustana Teaching Museum, the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, the German American Heritage Center, and other local museums.
"Museum Week" continues through Sunday. A full schedule of events is available at qcmuseumweek.com.
