Summer tourism in the Quad Cities generally depends on sporting events and music festivals, but not this year. The Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau says 13 business-related conferences will be held here in June, and will bring in at least 25-hundred visitors.
Lynn Hunt, from the bureau, says this year, there have already been 32 percent more conferences and meetings in the Quad Cities. And, the events this month should boost the economy by about one-million-dollars.
She says this month's increase in events is unique for the Quad Cities, because most conferences take place in the fall. And, some of the events this month include four agriculture related conferences, a World Championship competition at ComedySportz, and the Iowa Association of Business and Industry.

Hunt says booking conferences can take up to three years of planning.
