The Pitter Patter of Little Wings

MidAmerican Energy and WQAD-tv

The latest group of little falcons has started to hatch in downtown Davenport. Earlier this year, MidAmerican Energy reported there were four eggs in the peregrine falcon nesting box on the 10th floor of its office building, and one hatched on Thursday (5/7).

For the 12th year, the company and WQAD-tv have set up a falcon cam for a close up view of the growing family, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It's at wqad dot com slash falcon hyphen cam (wqad.com/falcon-cam/).
MidAmerican set out the nesting box in 2003, and through last year the same couple, Scorpio and P/D, have raised 15 chicks. But this year, a new male has replaced P/D - he's called E/60. Either P/D died, or the younger male drove him away.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
