The Chemo Care Package Project

Chemo Care Package Project

After reading survival stories by cancer patients, a local woman decided she could help. So last fall, Brandy Donaldson began collecting donations for The Chemo Care Package Project - and she'll hold a fundraiser tonight.

Donaldson says one story in particular caught her attention.
The packages include a blanket, water bottle, lip balm, lotions, books, and snacks.

Earlier this year, she and some other volunteers assembled 100 chemo care packages, and their goal is to collect enough donations for 200 more.

Lots of very positive feedback so far.

Tonight's fundraiser will be held at Icons Martini in Rock Island.

The Chemo Care Package Project can also accept contributions through a special account at US Bank.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
