Senior Information Center to open Saturday

A new information center for seniors in the Quad Cities will open this weekend. Located at the Historic Collins House in Davenport, the Senior Information Center will have staff available to answer questions about resources around the Quad Cities area and southeast Iowa, free of charge.

The center was built as a joint project of Senior Voice and the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department.
Gloria Fisher, chairman of Senior Voice, says the area needed one central location to help seniors will any questions they might have.

For example, the information center, which Fisher calls a "hub," can offer free books and brochures on low income housing.

The Senior Information Center will be open at the Historic Collins House three times a week to show people what's available in the Quad Cities.

An opening ceremony will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m., and the center will be open Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in May and June. Hours will be expanded in the fall. It's located in the 1200 block of East 29th Street.
