Two years of construction, and 61 million dollars later, Trinity Regional Health System has completed a major expansion of its west campus in Rock Island. Today Trinity officials and local leaders held a ribbon cutting to celebrate.
Trinity president and ceo, Doug Seidler, says the 90,000 new square feet includes a new emergency department, heart center, and mental health unit.
Already Trinity is beginning to schedule visitors from other hospitals across the county who want to see the new crisis stabilization unit.
Todd Nicholson, chair of the board of trustees, says a key part of the expansion was local fund-raising that brought in 6.4 million dollars.
Nicholson says not only will the expansion provide great health care for local residents, but great health care is very important in attracting new businesses to this community.
Trinity will hold a public open house on Sunday afternoon.
