Galena Trains Running Again

Trains are now running again on the BNSF tracks in Galena. Damaged cars have been removed and the clean up is underway, after tank cars carrying crude oil went off the track and caught fire last Thursday (3/5).
Twenty-one of the train's 105 cars derailed in an area near where the Galena River meets the Mississippi.
The US EPA says so far water samples from the river have not shown any contamination. Soil and air samples are also being tested this week. And, crude oil that pooled in the area is being removed with a vacuum truck.
The agency says activity will continue at the site for several weeks. And, the cause of the derailment is not yet known.
