Bix 7 Kickoff

Quad City Times Bix 7

For the 41st year, thousands of professional and amateur runners will fill the streets of Davenport this summer. Plans were announced tonight for the Quad City Times Bix 7 in July.

Spokesman Glenn Kass says the race will have a new shoe sponsor, Skechers USA.

And for the second year, registration will be free for members of the active duty military and reserves.

Kass says this is one of the few races around the country where the spectators often out-number the runners.

This year's Bix 7 will be held on Saturday July 25th, the same day that this year's RAGBRAIwill end in Davenport. Kass says some riders will finish a day early so they can run in the race.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
