The United Way has reached its goal, and even gone a little beyond. Today campaign leaders announced this year's Workforce Campaign raised 8.5 million dollars, plus an additional 16,000 dollars.
Campaign chair, Carrie O'Neill, says a success like this helps everyone in the Quad Cities.

And this year's total beats last year's by 100,000 dollars.
O'Neill says each year setting the goal is a very careful process.
United Way president, Scott Crane, says nearly 30,000 pledges have been received, with about one-quarter of them designated for a specific program or type of program.
In all, the pledges will support 89 programs and 48 agencies.
Instead of just one chair next year, O'Neill will share the leadership of the campaign with Jim Nelson, president of Parr Instrument Company in Moline.
