Niabi Zoo Welcomes Baby Giraffe

The giraffes at the Niabi Zoo have added a new member to their family. On Tuesday, a male giraffe was born at the zoo in Coal Valley.
The zoo staff had been closely monitoring his mother, named Mimi, during her pregnancy. And for the past several weeks, they did regular checks each night, until she gave birth on Tuesday at 3:30 a.m. 
The giraffe calf weighed 107 pounds at birth and was five and a half feet tall. The public will be able to see him with the other giraffes when the Niabi Zoo opens on March 23.
