Megabus Coming to QC

Megabus

The Quad Cities will have a new travel option starting later this month. Megabus Dot Com will add Davenport to its already existing service between Chicago and Omaha.

Vice president, Mike Alvich, says the company started running modern, double-decker, wi-fi-connected buses between Chicago and 7 cities in 2006. And since then has carried 40 million passengers, and expanded to serve 120 cities.
Seats cost as little as one dollar, and for an additional fee can be reserved.

Many not consider the bus until we came along.

For many routes, Alvich says Megabus is equal to the cost of driving and 70 to 80 per cent cheaper than flying.

Megabus began travelling between Chicago and Omaha a year and-a-half ago, so all it has to do is add a stop at the Ground Transportation Center in downtown Davenport. There'll be two daily departures from here to Chicago, with two more on weekends. Similar service will offered to Iowa City, Des Moines, and Omaha.
Tickets are sold online at mega bus dot com.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
