More Angels Needed

Salvation Army

With less than a week left in its annual Angel Tree Toy Drive, the Salvation Army needs our help. So far, only a small number of toys have been donated so needy children in the Quad Cities can receive a new toy on Christmas.

Development Director Holly Nomura says 3,000 children need toys, but only enough for about one quarter of them have been donated.
Nomura says more toys are needed for children ages 10 to 12. Each family usually picks up two toys for each child, one large and one small.
To donate a toy, you can go to any of the Angel Tree locations in the Quad Cities including Walmart, Schnucks Market, and NorthPark and SouthPark malls.
The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities is also looking for volunteers next week to help families pick out toys for their children, and you can sign up by going to ringbells.org.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
