For the 65th year, students at Moline High School will help needy families in the community buy new clothes for their children. This year's Share Joys Campaign will kick off Wednesday.
School counselor Allison Ryser says last year Share Joys raised over 46,000 dollars and bought clothing for 260 children. They're chosen by school district staff and other students.
One of the most important events of the annual campaign is the donut-eating contest that'll be held Wednesday morning at the high school. Ryser says 26 teams of students have collected pledges, and will compete to see who can eat the most, and fastest. And each year the contest raises about one-third of the total.
Other events at Moline High School include a talent show, bake sale, and movies.
On December 14th, the Share Joys recipients will go shopping for new clothes at J.C. Penney.
