Niabi Zoo Closes for Winter, Opens Special Classes

Niabi Zoo

The home of many animals in the Quad Cities is now closed. Today, the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley closed for the winter.

Zoo director, Marc Heinzman, says mild weather, new exhibits, and additions to the zoo family made it a successful year.
Despite being closed, the zoo will offer some special classes and programs during the winter to encourage children and adults to learn more about animals and plant life.

Heinzman says the zoo is trying something new this winter.

The staff also plans to prepare new exhibits, including a deck for its large koi pond.

The Niabi Zoo will reopen next March.
