New Website Brings Together Creative Residents

Creative residents in Muscatine are building a special community for themselves, one web profile at a time. This week, students at the East Campus alternative school, part of the Muscatine school district, launched an online platform for artists, called "WeAreMuscatine.com."

The site features over a dozen profiles from local artists in various fields, including film, fashion, writing, and graphic design.

Student spokesman, Jonah Terry, says the goal is to empower artists and entrepreneurs in the area:

"We kind of want this to introduce people together so they can physically meet outside and start collaborating on projects or help them in their creative area--whether it be helping them and growing, or actually doing something for the community."

For now, only students at East Campus are featured on the site, but Terry hopes to draw more creative-minded people of all ages together.

WeAreMuscatine.com was inspired by similar projects in Omaha, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City.
