The Library invites everyone to join them at The Library’s third annual Joy March on Saturday, June 21 at 10am! Taking inspiration from Iowa City’s Public Space One, our silly mini-parade will march around and through beautiful Vander Veer Park starting in the parking lot near the conservatory. Come equipped with noise makers, puppets, giant cardboard heads, costumes, brightly colored clothing, and join the fun. All are welcome! Joy will not be postponed due to weather. Registration is optional. If you register, you will be sent a reminder email for the event.

See what kind of interesting things people in our community collect, browse their collections, and find out more about their favorite things. Table after table packed with curiosities. Pokemon cards? Stamps? Dragons? Who knows what wonders you'll encounter at the Collection Convention? All ages welcome.

Come visit the OWL (Outreach Wheeled Library) during YouthFest brought you by our friends at Davenport Parks and Recreation! YouthFest is a yearly celebration held at Fejervary Learning Center and welcomes 30+ organizations from throughout the Quad Cities with one goal in mind, connecting young people to the resources they need. Come jump in a bounce house, pet a an animal at the petting zoo, play in the park, and learn about what this great region has to offer!

Let's read Rez Ball by Byron Graves together! This meeting of the Teen Book + Club will celebrate the All Iowa Reads teen selection, Rez Ball by Byron Graves. After a short book discussion, we will join readers from around Iowa in a live Zoom session with the author, Byron Graves!
Teens only (ages 11-19.) Registration is not required to attend the book discussion, however, free copies of Rez Ball plus extras will be given to teens who register for the book club. The books + extras will be available for pickup from the Fairmount Branch beginning on June 7. Registrants can email Ms. Amber (acarlson@davenportlibrary.com) if they would like their book + extras sent to another library location for pickup.

The music of the locally famous composer, musician and band leader, Prof. Ernst Otto will once again fill the air at the Schuetzen Park. Several of Otto’s best-known compositions will be performed by Dr. Marian Lee, Associate Professor and Head of Keyboard Area and Associate Professor of Piano at St. Ambrose University in an encore presentation. Come to the Park and walk the trails, enjoy the nature and at 2:00 the recital will begin. The program will be narrated by Nancy Dopler, great granddaughter of Mr. Otto. Nancy will give insight into the life and works of Prof. Otto and share many stories about the compositions being performed. Refreshments to be served. Free entry into the Park. This event is sponsored by The Schuetzenpark Gilde and the American/ Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Society Ridgecrest Village of Davenport.
