Silvis Public Library Presents:Hero Street Documentary Film Series
Join us for Emmy-winning Hero Street documentaries in Silvis, IL. This small block, settled by Mexican-American immigrants in 1929, lost eight young men in WW II and the Korean War—the most in the U.S., producing over 100 service members.
The Emmy-winning filmmakers of Fourth Wall Films will be showing their entire film collection in their Hero Street documentary series. Only a block and a half long, Second Street in Silvis, Illinois, lost six young men in World War II and two in the Korean War, more than any other street in America. Hero Street, as it is now known, has provided over 100 service members since Mexican-American immigrants settled there in 1929. The five films include Letters to Hero Street, Riding the Rails to Hero Street, A Bridge to Far from Hero Street, An Infantryman from Hero Street, and The Last to Fall from Hero Street.
The filmmakers, Kelly and Tammy Rundle, will also be on hand for Q&A sessions!
