Davenport 7th Ward Primary Results

Voters in Davenport's 7th Ward have chosen two candidates for the November ballot. Alexandra Dermody and Derek Cornette won Tuesday's city primary election.

Dermody received 44 per cent of the votes cast, followed by Cornette with 27 per cent. They easily defeated two other candidates, Rory Nimtz received 14 per cent, and William Pamperin got 12 per cent.

Turnout on Tuesday was just 2.7 per cent.

In April, Patrick Peacock resigned from the Davenport City Council after representing the 7th Ward for just a year. And was replaced temporarily by Joseph Miller, who did not run for the seat.

The general election will be held on November 2nd.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
