A state representative and law professor at the University of Iowa is running for Congress. Tuesday Democrat Christina Bohannan formally announced her campaign for the 2nd District seat, now held by Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

At the University of Iowa law school, Bohannan teaches Constitutional Law, Torts, and Intellectual Property. Last year she defeated a 20-year incumbent in State House District 85, and during her first term says she worked for working families, seniors, more investment in public schools, and to help families and small businesses recover from the pandemic. In addition Bohannan says she worked with both parties to crack down on human trafficking and elder abuse.

"I’m running for Congress because there’s so much at stake - and our kids, our families, and our small businesses are worth fighting for. We need less bickering in Washington, and more working together - for a government that works for the people.”

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
