Klobuchar Campaigns in Muscatine
Her upbringing, political background, and the Trump Administration were the focus Wednesday morning for Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar in Muscatine. The U.S. Senator from Minnesota held a meet & greet at the Missipi Brewing Company.
She told an audience of about 60 people that she wants to promote bold ideas while still being realistic. Being honest with constituents was also a huge part of her message.
"I think that's the least we should expect from a president. Someone that's going to try to keep the peace, will tell the truth, and obey the law. I pledge to you, that I will not just run this campaign with integrity, making promises that I can keep, but I will also govern with integrity and I will govern for you."
From a policy perspective, Klobuchar emphasized raising the minimum wage, affordable child care, and making community college tuition free.
"We need to make community college free, because if we cannot make it easy for kids to attend college in places like Iowa and Minnesota who have so valued education, we are going to fall behind."
Wednesday was the final day of a three-day campaign trip to Iowa. After the event in Muscatine, Klobuchar traveled to West Des Moines for her final stop.
