Delaney Helps Iowa Candidates

Delaney for President

One of the candidates for president will campaign for some fellow Democrats running for the Iowa legislature this weekend. During his latest trip to the state, Congressman John Delaney from Maryland will work for candidates in some key districts in eastern and northeast Iowa.

On Friday afternoon, he'll spend a couple of hours in Clinton, canvassing neighborhoods on behalf of State Senate candidate Patti Robinson. Then knock on doors in Muscatine for State House candidate Laura Liegois.

His final stop on Friday will be working a phone bank in Burlington, and helping Des Moines County supporters of State House candidates Dennis Cohoon and Lanny Hillyard.

Delaney plans similar stops on Saturday and Sunday in Fairfield, Waterloo, Decorah, Mason City, and Fort Dodge.

His campaign says by the end of the month Delaney will have campaigned and raised money for Democrats in 14 states this year, including providing local candidates with staff and other field support.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
