Historic Theatre in Davenport Reopens

After five years and millions of dollars, a theatre built in 1920 will host its first show since 2010.

Tonight, Dayseeker, a band from California, will perform at the Capitol Theatre, a historic theatre in downtown Davenport.

Joan Kranovich, Vice President of Business Growth at Visit Quad Cities says the theatre will be a performance venue for concerts, comedy shows, and a place for visitors to learn about the the history of the Quad Cities.

"That's been our most exciting part of it- just bringing something back to light, literally, the lights are on- to see it look so great and be restored back to what it was in its heyday."

The restoration included handpainted murals on the ceiling, and new modern apartments in the upper floors above the theatre, but Kranovich says the 1,500 seat theatre will bring more than just history back to the QC.

"If it's an artist that's coming in through the Quad Cities or traveling through, we won't miss out on that opportunity to have them stop here because the dates are taken, or we just have so much going on already at our venues."

Following Dayseeker, Atreyu and Blackberry Smoke will each perform on the 23rd and 29th. For a full list of concert dates, visit firstfleet.com
