Talking Art with B.K. Davis

The pianist Byron (B.K.) Davis is the first Black Steinway International Artist from Iowa, and Polyrhythms’ Third Sunday Jazz series is welcoming him to the stage this Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Redstone Room.

Originally from Davenport, B.K. Davis began writing his own music at a young age and was directing the church choirs while still in high school at the various Pentecostal churches where his father was a minister. His mother, Ruth Davis, taught him how to play the piano and to sing vocals. What followed was a wide-ranging career in music which allowed him to both perform and travel extensively. He was named a Steinway International Artist in 2012.

Dividing his time now between Florida and Burlington, Iowa, he recently recorded several Invisible Concert series performances at Joy Avenue Media in Bettendorf, which you can listen to here.

The concert will be held on Sunday, Oct 17, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Redstone Room, located at 129 Main St. in Davenport, on the second floor of the River Music Experience building. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased at the door, or you can reserve your seat or table in advance by emailing nate@polyrhythms.org.
