New Biography of George Davenport

On Midwest Week, after working on it for more than 40 years, a Davenport woman has published her first book - a history of one of this area's most important early settlers.

Herb Trix's guest is Alma Gaul, features writer for the Quad City Times and Dispatch-Argus.

You can also hear Midwest Week Fridays on WVIK at 6:20 pm during All Things Considered.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
