ComedySportz and Davenport Junior Theatre Launch Kids Show

Davenport Junior Theatre and ComedySportz Quad Cities

ComedySportz Quad Cities and the Davenport Junior Theatre are teaming up to create a new show, "ComedySportz for Kids."

ComedySportz left its previous home venue in May, The Establishment theater in downtown Rock Island, in favor of taking its show into the community at large. Owner Jeff Adamson says working with the Junior Theatre is a good fit because Artistic Director Daniel Sheridan spent time working with Adamson twenty years ago.

"It was a natural merge because we both knew each other and we both love ComedySportz, and since we left The Establishment we were looking to set up a footprint in Davenport and on the Iowa side."

The two companies plan to produce a monthly show that will feature improv games and physical comedy, because it's something that both kids and adults find funny.

"It has to be appealing to the adults, otherwise you're not going to bring you're kids to it because you'll be bored. It's that fine line that we try to straddle as far as making it funny for the kids, but making it funny for the adults at the same time."

The next performance of "ComedySportz for Kids" will be at the Davenport Junior Theatre on Saturday, August 24th, while improv classes for kids aged 7-18 taught by Adamson's son, Patrick, begin on September 7th.
