Pracht made her Kennedy Center debut as soloist in Philip Glass’ Symphony No. 5 with the Washington Chorus in 2016, and her Carnegie Hall debut as the alto soloist in Verdi’s Requiem?. She recently performed the title role in Elizabeth Cree at the Chicago Opera Theatre, which concluded in February of 2018.

Listen to our conversation here about her background in the Quad Cities, the path she took to become a mezzo soprano of considerable renown and talent, and what advice she would have to a younger person considering a career in opera performance.

You can listen here to a portion of her performance as Sharon Falconer in Elmer Gantry in 2015, performed with the Florentine Opera.

Carolyn Martin joined WVIK as a host of Talking Art in 2017. A long-time fan of NPR programming with a love of storytelling and all art forms, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with creative people who beautify our community and make the Quad Cities region an even better place to live.
