New Season Opens for Visiting Artists

Quad City Arts

For the 43rd year, a wide range of artists will perform for local residents. Monday is the kickoff for Quad City Arts' Visiting Artist Series.

Margot Day, from Quad City Arts, says between now and next spring the series will feature nine, one and two week residencies, including musical ensembles, tap dancers, a jazz pianist, and a singer-songwriter.
This week, the first visiting artist of the new season will be Paige Hernandez. Day says she calls herself a "theater artist" because her inter-active performances include poetry, dance, and song.

Her public performance will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at the Nighswander Theater in Davenport.

The Visiting Artist Series receives funding from a variety of local and state sources, plus the National Endowment for the Arts.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
