Sunday homicides leave two dead in Moline

The Moline police are asking the public for help after two people were found dead in a house over the weekend.

Early Sunday morning, around 4:35 am, police responded to a call about an unknown problem at a house on the 1800 block of 31st Street. Officers found a 19-year old and a 17-year old dead in the basement of the house. Police say both young men died from gunshot wounds.

Police had already been to the house a couple hours earlier, for a noise complaint. Someone had reported a large house party there, but by the time police arrived, the noise had ended.

In a release, the Moline Police Department said police "believe this call is related to the homicides that occurred a while later." Also that the killings were not a random incident, and witnesses will be crucial to solving the case.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers of the Quad Cities at 309-762-9500 or submit video or photo evidence to the Moline Police Department's online community portal.

Note: a previous version of this story reported one of victim's ages as 20-years old, instead of 19-years old.
