Unemployment remains fairly steady in the Quad Cities

The unemployment rate in the Quad Cities was slightly higher last month than it was at the same time the previous year.

In December, the jobless rate was 3.9%, compared to 3.6% in December 2022.

Government and leisure-hospitality had the most growth. There were about 2,600 government jobs gained, and 1,200 jobs gained in leisure and hospitality.

There were roughly 2,800 job losses in professional business services, and 600 in retail trade, over the year.

The unemployment rate reflects the amount of people out of work, who are looking for a job.
