After 25 years, Clinton LumberKings General Manager resigns

Ted Tornow joined the LumberKings in November of 1998, making him the longest standing general manager in the team's history.

Under Tornow's management, the LumberKings were recently named the 2023 Prospect League's Organization of the Year and have led the league's attendance since 2021.

"I wanted to go out on my terms," Tornow said. "And I figured, you know, we've done well with the Prospect Leagues. Three straight years of good attendance. Profitability. And so, if there was a time to leave, my family and I felt, this was the best time to leave."

After a long run with the Clinton LumberKings, Tornow is now ready for his next challenge.

"I was offered a position to work out of state, and things kind of moved quickly," Tornow said. "I decided to take a chance. We're actually moving to Arizona. I'll be working for the City of Surprise at their spring training site for the Royals and the Rangers at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona."

The Clinton LumberKings have yet to name a replacement.
