How to get rid of your Christmas tree

/

The city of Dubuque will collect and compost natural Christmas trees this month.

The "Merry Mulch" program started on Jan 2 and ends on Jan 12. Residents can put trees out on the curb to be collected on their normal collection day.

The trees must be bare, with no decorations or fake snow, and not wrapped in plastic. They should be cut down to five feet or less. Also, the tree must have a city brush tie or yard waste sticker.

Most of the Quad Cities will pickup and dispose of bare, natural Christmas trees on regular trash days.

-In Moline, trees will be picked from Jan 2 until Jan 12.
-In Rock Island, tree pickup starts Jan 8 and goes until Jan 19.
-In Bettendorf, trees will be picked up until Jan 6.

The cities of Galesburg and Muscatine offer Christmas tree recycling.
