A developer in Dubuque will use state tax credits to revitalize a historic building

City of Dubuque

Miller Devlopment Group owns Dubuque's Chadwick Building, found at the intersection of 1st and Locust.

Jill Connors serves as the city's Economic Development Director. She says discussions about the two-story, brick building started about a year ago.

"It's such a great location. It's really the gateway to our downtown, when you come from the South or from the East," Connors said. "So were excited to have a better looking building at that location. It was looking pretty tired and needed some love, so were grateful that Mr. Miller is taking on this project."

The first floor has been renovated as a commercial space, and three apartments will be built upstairs. In September, Candle Ready Cakes opened in the Chadwick building.

The project in dubuque will benefit from historic preservation tax credits awarded by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Miller Development will receive $305,000 to as part of the financial incentive package.
