Moline Community Foundation awards $200,000 in grants

A local foundation gave some non-profits in the Quad Cities area a boost last week.

The Moline Regional Community Foundation awarded nearly $200,000 in grants to 36 organizations.

The money will fund a range of initiatives, including teen pregnancy prevention, money management for older adults, youth education and career programs, housing and food support.

Two historical societies will use their grants to digitize their collections. One grant awarded to the Quad City Botanical Center is for a "Plant Discovery Bus." Another will allow Rebuilding Together Henry County to build wheelchair ramps.

Friendship Manor was awarded $25,000 for its Capital Campaign. The River Bend Food Bank received $15,000.

The Moline Regional Community Foundation covers Rock Island, Henry, Mercer, Henderson, and McDonough counties.
