Quad Cities protesters call for a ceasefire in Gaza

Reginald Hardwick

At a pro-Palestine protest in Davenport this weekend, Quad Cities residents called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Saturday, they joined protesters around the U.S. calling for a ceasefire, and for the Biden administration to stop its funding for Israel.

Over the weekend, Israel expanded operations in Gaza, while Palestinians experienced a communications black-out. It's part of Israel's response to the Hamas attack on Oct. 7. The militant group killed over 1,000 Israeli civilians, and took more than two hundred hostages.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, about 1,000 Palestinians were killed in Gaza over the weekend, bringing the death toll there to over 8,000.
