Davenport Mayor Chooses Interim 7th Ward Alderman

Davenport City Hall
WVIK News
Davenport City Hall

Davenport Mayor Mike Matson has chosen an interim replacement for a disgraced Davenport alderman.

Chris Jerome offered to serve as the seventh ward alderman until a new one is elected in November.

He would replace Derek Cornette, who was removed from office earlier this month for allegedly sexually harassing city employees and showing up to council meetings drunk.

Cornette is fighting the decision, and will run for re-election this fall.

Mayor Matson will ask the city council to appoint Jerome at Wednesdays meeting.
